Earlier this year, I completed a survey for the E4Kids study that my 6 year old daughter is participating in, and won a $100 book voucher to be used at The Book Garden.
Since it’s Book Week we decided it would be the perfect time to use the voucher and purchase some new books, so we jumped on-line yesterday afternoon to take a look. Well, Miss 6 sat at the computer for a couple of hours scrolling through pages and pages of children’s picture books and chapter books, writing down her wish list. In the end her list filled up over half an A4 piece of paper! I said that she needed to narrow her list down to maybe 6 or 7 books. She then carefully studied her list, reading it over and over, deciding which books were her absolute favourites. We were able to look at the covers of the books and read the blurbs but it was still quite difficult when you couldn’t actually flick through the book and have a a squizz. In the end this is what she chose:
Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy by Sue Whiting
The Children Who Loved Books by Peter Carnavas
The Lorax by Dr Seuss
I am Too Absolutely Small for School by Lauren Child (Charlie and Lola book)
Tooth Fairy in Trouble by Julia Jarman
Evie: The Mist Fairy by Daisy Meadows
Hayley: The Rain Fairy by Daisy Meadows
Now the excitement of waiting for the parcel of books to arrive. And she’s not the only one!
As well as children’s picture books, The Book Garden also supplies teacher resources, parenting books and accessories for teaching such as:
