Thanks to Rochelle Wisoff-Fields for hosting Friday Fictioneers and to G.L. MacMillan for this interesting photo prompt:
Here is my story:
Velma wiped the sweat from her brow. She closed her eyes, trying to picture the pages of the book, struggling to remember the last of the ingredients. Time was running out…
Frantic, Velma scanned her crowded shelves, studying every little bottle of herb, spice and potion. Nothing rang a bell.
Almost in tears, the final ingredient appeared before her. Velma poured in the liquid and the water frothed and bubbled. She sucked up the potion into her pipette and gently squeezed open the mouse’s mouth.
Thankfully, within seconds the mouse transformed back to its regular form – Velma’s daughter.

Talk about a blunder and a half. I am glad the ending turned out well, it seems that the memory has a strange way of bringing lost things back.

Oh my… Velma was almost stuck with a mouse for a daughter! Very well written. I like the way you build up the suspense before revealing what the spell was for. 🙂
